TASMANIAN ACES WIN 2009 PACIFIC HIRE MT BULLER SPRINT!

The final stage of the 2009 Mt Buller Sprint has been completed.

Congratulations to first place finishes Jason and John White in their 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo with a total time of 1:17L09.18.

Second place outright was Steve Jones and Ben Searcy from WA in their 2008 Nissan Skyline GTR R with a total time of 1:17:26.96. Third place goes to Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy in their 2008 Subaru WRX STi, also from WA, with a time of 1:18:54.27.

The clasic competition was taken out by Rex Broadbent and Chris Randell in their 1974 Porsche 911 RS.

DAY 3 SS9 UPDATE

As SS9 is completed, the Tasmanian pairing of Jason and John White are leading by 17 seconds heading into the final Special Stage of the event.

WA speedsters Steve Jones and Ben Searcy look like having to settle for second place as they were 4 seconds slower than the Whites in SS9. The husband and wife combo of Dan and Natalie Ford are doing a very impressive job of holding onto 4th place behind WA entrants Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy.

It could be a late disaster for Ray Vandersee and John Allen who dropped 5 seconds on SS9 and are now only ahead of 6th placed Tim Hendy and Daniel Willson by just 1.5 seconds!

DAY 3 SS8 UPDATE

SS8, the first run of Day 3 has been completed and Steve Jones was once again fastest, with a very impressive 8m28.76, pulling in 10 seconds on Jason and John White. The gap between 1st and 2nd place is now 12 seconds with two stages still to run.

The battle for the final podium position has been hottly contested all weekend. Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy have just been holding on over Dan and Natalie Ford. Going into the final two stages, Dean has a narrow 10 second lead. Any mistake will be punished severely.

DAY 3 - SS8 ABOUT TO COMMENCE

The Sun has broken over Mt Buller Village and all competitors are queued at the Start Line awaiting the start of SS8.

The schedule today is for three more stages, which would bring the event to a total of 11 Special Stages.

DAY 2 SS7 UPDATE

SS7 has been run and won and at the end of Day 2, Jason and John White are holding a commanding 23 second lead in their 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo.

Steve Jones and Ben Searcy are holding onto second by almost a minute over fellow WA competitors Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy.

Leading the Classic Class is Rex Broadbent and Chris Randall in a 1974 Porsche 911 RS.

DAY 2 SS6 UPDATE

SS6 has been completed. The battle at the front is still very tight with Jason and John White correcting their throttle problem in time for the start of the Special Stage.

Producing a time of 8m32.06, they were able to pull out another 9 seconds on WA pairing of Steve Jones and Ben Searcy who were slower this time with an 8m40.28.

Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy in their 2008 Subaru WRX STi are still holding on to the final podium position, but the Ford/Ford combination and Vanersee/Allen are closing in.

Hendy/Wilson and Herridge/Allen are still producing consistant times in the low 8 minute 40s and are closing in on the top 3 with Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy still holding onto the third position.

NSW competitors, David Finnimore and Nicole Bryan did not complete the stage after going off mid course. Both are un-injured and have been released from the medical centre.

DAY 2 SS5 UPDATE

SS5 has just been completed and finally, a stumble by the Jason and John White.

The Tasmanian duo was only able to put in the 6th fastest time and with Wa entrants Steve Jones and Ben Searcy producing the fastest time of SS5, there is now only 9.98 seconds seperating Jason and John White and the WA fliers.

DAY 2 SS4 UPDATE

The drivers and navigators are well into the weekend now with SS4 just completed.

There has finally been a change in the Top 3 times for that session, with the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette combination of Neill Ford and Nathalie Ford have cracked a time of 8m46.60 to place them third on that run.

The competitors are now on lunch break and will continue with SS5 at approximately 1pm.

DAY 2 SS3 UPDATE

It was a frosty morning as the cars got underway today. SS3 was run with minimum incidents and lots of smiling faces from competitors.

Mt Buller local was not able to put his intimate knowledge of the mountain to effect this morning, with a spin on the first run of the day. They were undamaged and unharmed but the vehicle was in a precarious position and they were not able to continue. As a result they will also not be able to take the start of SS4.

Fastest time for SS3 was once again Jason and John White in their 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo with a time of 8m33.47. Second place is Steve Jones and Ben Searcy in their 2008 Nissan Skyline GTR-R with a time of 8m34.31.

Dean Herridge once again rounded out the top 3 fastest runs with a time of 8m43.46m

2009 PACIFIC HIRE MT BULLER SPRINT IS GO!

The 2009 Mt Buller Sprint got up to a speedy start today with a shakedown/prologue and two special stages.

Fastest time for the day was the veteran crew of Jason and John White from Tasmania with a time of 8m34.51, already well under the Tarmac Magazine sub 8m45 Club cut off.

Second outright after two stages is Western Australian challenger Steve Jones and Ben Searcy with a fastest time of 8m45.54. The West Australian invasion was complete with Dean Herridge and Chris Murphy completing the top 3 with a time of 8m47.48.
